Dear OpenVMS Professional,

AVTware, EuroVMS, BGSoftware, and user group Interexperience are pleased to announce a new edition of the International OpenVMS Forum, in Eindhoven on March 7th,2023.

European key persons of VMS Software and its partners will host you and provide details on the newest developments in OpenVMS.  It’s also a unique opportunity to meet many OpenVMS professionals and to exchange ideas, views, and your plans for future OpenVMS projects.

On the agenda:

09:30-10:00 Welcome, agenda, introduction of the speakers

10:00-11:00 Adam Hoff-Nielsen & Jan Magnusson: VMS Software Strategy and Roadmaps

Adam Hoff-Nielsen is based in Copenhagen and works at VMS Software Inc. as Sales Director for EMEA.

Jan Magnusson is the European Director Business Development at VMS Software Inc. He is based in Gothenburg.

Their session provides a company and roadmap update. Adam and Jan are available during the whole event for 1-to-1 meetings.

11:30-12:30 Wolfgang Burger: Databases and SharkSQL

Wolfgang Burger was Master of Technology at HPE and developed OpenVMS PERFDAT and OpenVMS ServiceControl.

In 2019, Wolfgang founded a start-up company in Austria, focusing mainly on the development of SharkSQL, a brand new, easy-to-use, distributed relational database system with outstanding performance and security features that go far beyond the SQL standard.

13:30 – 14:30 Jan Karremans: OpenVMS and PostgreSQL, the dawn of a new era

Jan Karremans is a database technologist at EDB, working with people and organizations to maximize their potential in a data centric world. He is a Postgres advocate.

Postgres is gaining more and more momentum as enterprise database on OpenVMS. The key benefits are obvious: a high-performing database, considerable savings on license fees, and access to a large pool of skilled resources.

15:00-16:00 Thilo Lauer: OpenVMS on VMware

Thilo Lauer is a senior technical consultant at VMS Software Inc.

He’ll demo the setup of OpenVMS for x86 on VMware and provides the forum attendees hands-on training on this new environment.
